Smoking close to your gears will make them sticky and stinky in the long period.

I’d much rather have a capable synth that has tons of mod options compared to some limited classic-sounding synth. Also, the DeepMind has fans? Is that common in digital synths?

Put a piece of felt!

I would've removed all internal components so that you're left with an empty shell before drilling, otherwise you risk the drill bit slipping when you punch through, damaging the components, and just ending up with an expensive door stopper. Also it's harder to see if you've left any metal shavings from the drilling inside the case that can make unwanted connections at a random point later on. The whole thing could become a fire hazard.

Its growing on me but after I invested in some separate sound banks that was properly programmed and gave me a starting point. The factory presets are somewhat strange and not so musical. The keybed is kind of ok for a synth action. Semi-weight surprised me but the black keys are way more muted than the whites so the velocity curve differs between them. Also the keys themself dont allow too hard playing or you can hear cracks and strange sounds from when the key has travelled to the bottom. Otherwise great first analog polysynth for anybody. Glad I started with this instead of a rev 2 or Summit actually.

The knobs on the SE02 ruined it for me. I don't mind the compact layout, but the knobs are just a bad choice - it's very hard to see what level you're currently at and the knobs just aren't grippy enough (I had A LOT of trouble turning the catch-knobs). Luckily they used standard 6mm d-shaft, so I bought some replacement knobs which are around 3x taller. I'm really enjoying using the SE02 now.
